To be truly sustainable a product must meet the requirements of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. This is important to Vycom and we proved it when unveiling our newest effort in economic and environmental sustainability.

Making its debut at the Printing United Show on October 23rd in Dallas, Texas, this program brings new hope and excitement to the rigid substrate printers and end-users that now have a viable option to recycle and repurpose their used scrap and used PVC plastics.

As a subsidiary of The AZEK Company, Vycom initiated a substantial investment into ensuring an adequate and progressive method of recycling printed and unprinted PVC materials. Our primary manufacturing facility, located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, will serve as the sustainability program home base for printed material waste. Prior to this, there was no adequate solution for used signage and scrap, but thanks to progressive actions and thought leaders behind the Vycom name, customers can now return these products and ensure they do not end up in landfills. The return process requires coordinating a pickup with Vycom or an authorized recycling partner. We’re encouraging our customers to embrace this return process, and with support across the value chain, we can make this program the new industry standard for the future.

In addition to our Sign and Graphics market initiatives, our sister brand, TimberTech, just last year opened a dedicated recycling plant based in Ohio to accept post-consumer and post-industrial recycled polyethylene materials from retailers, municipalities, and waste management companies for reprocessing into TimberTech’s deck boards. All of the recycling is done in the United States for products produced domestically by The AZEK Company and its subsidiaries.

Vycom’s products are designed to replace wood, metal, and other traditional materials- providing solutions that optimize quality and performance. Our extensive inventory and products offer the convenience of single-source purchasing and an ability to maximize efficiency. Currently, Vycom is the only manufacturer offering foam and solid PVC products ranging in thickness 1mm – 38 mm with multiple finishes and colors – and now we can recycle and reuse scrap plastic. Due to the numerous application options and extensive product lines, we are better equipped than most manufacturers to repurpose and reuse recycled materials. By the end of 2020, over 250 million pounds of plastic will be recycled and repurposed through our recycling facilities to assist in creating more opportunities; preserving our natural resources and creating quality products that optimize performance. Vycom now has you covered at both the beginning and end of product life, and we feel great about that!
